Boeing B-29 Superfortress 42-24664 "Ramblin Roscoe" 882nd BS 500th BG 20th AF
Boeing B-29 Superfortress serial number 42-24664 coded Z23 "Ramblin Roscoe" of the 882nd Bomb Squadron, 500th Bomb Group, 20th Air Force, after crash landing on Iwo Jima on April 14, 1945. During a night raid on Tokyo on April 13-14, 1945, Japanese fighters knocked out two of the engines and damaged the landing gear. On landing at Iwo Jima, the bomber collided with a truck, killing a Seabee, and two people sleeping in a tent. (US Air Force photos)
